I'm BACK!

Wow!
It's been a wild ride the past month and a half!
Not that anything is ever really calm or normal around here...
But even more than our normal crazy. Funny how when I read through my past blog entries this seems to be the common phrase. So... we are crazy. Things are never boring around here.

So what is instigating this new found insanity?
We are buying a farm!
This is a lifelong dream coming to fruition for both Paul and myself.
We are so very excited to have found our dream property, complete with a forest, fields, a mountain view and a pond... with a granny-chic farm house that is just waiting for me to reenificate!
A magical place, as you can see from the photos!

Here is the slideshow from my flickr album that holds many more images.

So we are all about the CLEANING OUT right now.
Lotsa items going in the shop.
Purging out fibers, yarns and this week, BOOKS.
Moving in a few short weeks.
Stay tuned for more follies...

Color Inspiration~

I have skeins of Malabrigo hanging by my studio window.
Right outside the window is my planter, with geraniums, salvia and nasturtium in the exact same delicious colors.

Changes....

I feel crazed lately. More crazed than my "normal" crazed.
We are in the midst of negotiations on a farm. Our dream farm.
Meanwhile I am trying to keep my brains occupied. I cannot pack yet. Waiting makes me crazy.
So I am PURGING.
Not puke-purging, FIBER purging.
It's sick how much fiber I have. Do not call 'Hoarders' on me. I used to wholesale my yarns to many many shops. But now there is no longer any reason to have THIS MUCH fiber on hand.
And the thought of moving it? sigh. tiresome.
So .... I have been listing what I do not wish to keep in the shop.
You really need to go and see it. I have organized it into categories, with very little pictures. Pictures take a lot of time to take and modify, and upload, etc. So to keep me sane, keep time manageable and prices fair, I took the bare minimum photos.

Also.. I recently listed over 20 new handspuns!
Beauties from Elizabeth of Yarn Punk and Therese of Jump Sheep!
There are now THREE pages of Art Yarns!

Go ahead and roll around in it. It will make you so very happy.

I am off to find my knitting and a cold beverage.
Have a SPECTACULAR weekend.
MWAH!

Painted Tool Bags

I finally finished a project that I can share with you!
yay me.
Introducing... my painted tool bags!

TOTAL COLOR CONTAMINATION.
I went all the way with the reenie palette on these,
because since they are for ME to use.

Materials:
~ Tool totes or bags from your local home improvement store.
(I chose more of a tote since they will live in my studio most of the time)
~ Heavy bodied gesso-- meaning a thicker brand.
~ Acrylic paints and brushes
~ Sharpie water based paint markers
~ Oil pastels
~ Clear coat spray paint

Here is what they looked like before....
They were a divine red and black.
Came with removable shoulder straps...
and have pockets all around the front and all around the inside edges (not shown here).

I gave them both two coats of gesso-- they really drank it up!
At first I gessoed them to give myself a white ground to work on, to make the colors pop!
I did not think they needed the gesso, but once I started applying it I realized they really did.
The vinyl fabric would have devoured my precious paints.

It's taken me a month-ish to get them finished, been dabbling at them when I get some time.

Close ups of the "Tool Bag",  the one I will keep my hand tools in.

Aimlessly Wandering~

Been a bit of a mess lately. Aimless. Moody. Bah.
Bouncing from knitting to housework to napping to painting.
Grumbly and irritable. I am sure I am a real joy to be around. (sorry family).

I will try to find some focused time with the camera to take some pictures of it all.

Miss my focused brain. Wonder where I left it?
Anyone seen it?
