Kai's Elfish Gnome Hat~ 2012

Pattern is based on Gnomey Hat by Adian Bizilia
I changed the gauge of the pattern to fit my yarn and  changed the point of the hat.
Fits a 17 inch head with a bti of room to grow...

Made from a two ply handspun from SpunMonkey.

Cute gnomey overload.

WHY am I cross posting everything?
Well, over the next few months, both blogs will be combined into one, shiney, sparkly fantastic NEW blog, which will sit on the PeculiarAmbitions.com site.
This blog will not only be my voice (Reenie), but all of us,
reflecting our crazy, farmy, artsy, family-filled lives.
ReenieHanlin.com will remain as is, as my blog archives (since 2007!)
So... keep an eye out for these changes to take effect.
They are still very much in the planning stages.

Gabriel's Monster Hat~ 2012

Made from  Miss Babs Yowza in Moss & Starling, Patons Classic Wool Dk Superwash in Pumpkin and a natural cream colonial wool from my stash.

Gauge on a size 4 needle was 5.75 st/in and8.5 rows/in.

Gabriel is two years old so I made the child size from the pattern.

Rear view~

I chose to make the mouth area different, with a snaggle-toothed fang. I also decided to knit the eye (pattern showed a crochet version).

Chicken approved... (this chicken is a diva and cannot stay out of photos)

Perfect hat for an adorable little monster!
Special thanks to his mamma, Charlene, for the photos of Gabriel.

Bodhin's Thorpe Hat Remix~ 2012

I modified the pattern math so it worked with a worsted weight gauge yarn and fit a toddler/small child.

Made from Miss Babs Yowza in Out of Hand.

Bodhi is not a fan of ties on his hat... to make them more fun, I added a FROG!
Which was a huge hit.
Ties are braided crochet chains.

I made crocheted worms for the top...

...and a felt patch with a "B" on it.
B for "Bodhi" and for "Back" (so he knows which side is the back).

Rockwell's Aviator Hat~ 2012

Pattern is the Regan- Aviator hat by Julie Taylor (Ravelry Link)

Made from Miss Babs Yowza in Moss & Starling.

Gauge on a size 7 was 5 st/in. and 7.25 rows/in.

Rockwell is 6 months old, but I made the 1 year size in the pattern to give him room to grow.

Special thanks to his mamma, Katie for the adorable Carhartt shots.

What I Am~

Sometimes the messages we need to hear the most come from the most unexpected places...

What you are is Magical...
What you are is Special...

And nothing's gonna bring me down (no!)
Never gonna stop, gotta go.
Because I know
I'll keep getting stronger.

Listen to it.
Over and over... it's catchy!
