Green must be one of my fav colors. The dishes in the sink, the x-mas left overs in the fridge and that towel in the bathroom that nobody wants to touch are all green and getting greener! As soon as I finish one of my projects or two or maybe....I should sort my yarn ...or count my beads or..........
There was a nice woman named Reen,
Who wanted a quote about green.
I thought and I thought
- this is all that I got,
Cause she said that it can't be obscene!
“…the grey rain-curtain turned all to silver glass and was rolled back, and he beheld white shores and beyond them a far green country under a swift sunrise ..."
Green is a color, the perception of which is evoked by light having a spectrum dominated by energy with a wavelength of roughly 520–570-nm.

Most vibrant memory of grade school (some 50 years ago) consists of green paper shamrocks worn by the girls during our St. Paddy's Day play. We looked so cute! (to our parents) ;)

My father is a Shriners clown, and his name is Shamrock. Thus, I've always been fond of that shade of green.
To welcome the warmth of spring nature lays her green carpet over the earth.
I definitely do green! A flock of green frogs (what else do you call several froggies?). Green washcloths with froggies to go with them. But then there's my green mohair shawl. I hated to see that end. The only thing is that it doesn't look too good worn over my green dresses (yup, plural).

Green is my favorite color. My bedroom walls and carpet are both green- and my eyes, too!
a limerick:
A mouse in her room woke Miss Doud
Who was frightened and screamed very loud
Then a happy thought hit her
To scare off the critter
She sat up in bed and just meowed
Lovely yarn! We are a happy irish household who loves this holiday! smile
From one of my favourite poems:
All in green went my love riding
on a great horse of gold
into the silver dawn.
- e.e. cummings
Well the latest thing I have seen that was green is whatever we had in the back of refrigerator... Does that count?
Ravelry name MamaMay.
My nickname (in real life as well) is graeschen - this means little blade of grass. :-) I AM green...
Greenhouses! My hubby's business is growing plants in them!
I have a sea of green wine bottles on my counter. Green glass is really pretty.
here was an Old Person whose habits,
Induced him to feed upon rabbits;
When he'd eaten eighteen,
He turned perfectly green,
Upon which he relinquished those habits.
A little tiny sprout of something pushing up through the soil in the spring.
That yarn is just froggy!
“This planet has -- or rather had -- a problem, which was this: most of the people living on it were unhappy for pretty much of the time. Many solutions were suggested for this problem, but most of these were largely concerned with the movements of small green pieces of paper, which is odd because on the whole it wasn't the small green pieces of paper that were unhappy.” -Douglas Adams, British Comic Writer, 1952-2001
I LOVE THIS!!!
A quote from Pedro Calderon de la Barca (a Spanish playwright):
Green is the prime color of the world, and that from which its loveliness arises.
“For in the true nature of things, if we rightly consider, every green tree is far more glorious than if it were made of gold and silver.”
I moved from Arizona to Seattle... called the Emerald City for a very good reason! It was miraculous there: Water actually fell from the sky! And everything grew. Everything. Dark green fir trees, deep grasses by the road, bright green ferns in the woods... even pale green mold on the bread. Ick. But seriously, it's a beautiful city, and Green in its environmental attitude, too!
Thanks for such a fantastic contest!
The road to the City of Emeralds is paved with yellow brick.”

The green, green grass of home
Green makes me think of St. Paddy's Day - one of my favourite days of the year.
Green makes me think of a song from childhood
Down by the bay
where the watermelons grow
back to my home
I dare not go
for if I do
My mother will say
"Did you every see a frog
kissing a hog?"
Down by the bay...

It could be a greener world, but we'd have more greenhouse gasses!
I am trying to be more "green" in that I am recycling my plastics and using fabric bags for the grocery.
My hair after swimming in the swimming pool at the nearby national park when I was a kid - it turned green every time...
Thinking about someone else winning this gorgeous yarn makes me GREEN with envy!
“If your knees aren't green by the end of the day, you ought to seriously re-examine your life.”

Gorgeous yarn!!
I have been googling for 10 minutes trying to find some sort of Emerald City done in fiber art, but would you believe that it doesn't exist?
So how about this:

There's a computer game coming out about the Emerald City! I had no idea until I started looking around to tell you about this!
Very beautiful yarn. My son (who is celebrating his 4th birthday) can recite most of Green Eggs and Ham, but still loves to listen to it at night, so that will be our bedtime story tonight.
Well, it's not like I sing it much these days, but I sure did love it in my Bible-camp years.
I'll sing you twelve, O
Green grow the rushes, O
What are your twelve, O?
Twelve for the twelve Apostles ,
Eleven for the eleven who went to heaven,
Ten for the ten commandments,
Nine for the nine bright shiners,
Eight for the eight bold rangers,
Seven for the seven stars in the sky
Six for the six proud walkers,
Five for the symbols at your door,
Four for the Gospel makers,
Three, three, the rivals,
Two, two, lily-white boys,
Clothed all in green, O
One is one and all alone
And evermore shall be so.

I teach pre-school-- my students learn not to let the water run for a long time and use only one paper towel when washing hands. We use, wash, and re-use rags to clean up spills and to wipe tables. We recycle everything that can be recycled.

Green eyes were sometimes a sign that a person was a shape-changed creature, demon, or somehow magical in folklore.
There was a young lady named Jean
Who really liked her ice cream
She went to the store
To buy some more
But the only flavor was green

Nymph,nymph, what are your beads?
Green glass, goblin. Why do you stare at them?
Give them me.
No.
Then I will howl all night in the reeds,
Lie in the mud and howl for them.
Goblin, why do you love them so?
They are better than stars or water,
Better than voices of winds that sing,
Better than any man's fair daughter,
Your green glass beads on a silver ring.
Hush, I stole them out of the moon.
Give me your beads, I desire them so.
Give them me. Give them.
No.
There are so many beautiful things green, and being born in the month of May my birthstone is an Emerald. Beautiful gem. Trees and leaves are green and green symbolozies growth and renewal. However, green has many negative things related to it "green with envy" meaning jealous, "green or greenhorn" meaning inexperienced. "green around the gills" meaning pale or sickly. But to me Green means everything wonderful, especially in nature!

Green, green and green
I want a holiday with a scene
Of green, green and green
A summer of green trees
A landscape of green grass
A view full of green vegetables
The colour green
Is a beauty that must be seen!
From a moving vehicles screen
And while we hold onto those machines
That deprives us of the colour green
Remember they provide us vaccines
As well as help the air to be clean
So for green, green and green
I will travel continents across and in-between
And also to any place that I have never been
I will make it routine
Just to see green, green and green

Green makes me think of fresh cut grass. One of my favorite smells. The Gap used to have a body spray that smelled like that. Unusual to say the least. But I loved it.
'Nature's first green is gold...'
Green Eggs and Ham. We make them every year at school to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday.
SPRING is green
So is Irish spring soap
brussel sprouts
cucumbers and
good fried tomatoes before they are fried
and making me very very tired of grey, brown and white! (still looks a bit wintery here)
Beautiful yarn.
There once was a knitter named Bree
Who saw the green yarn, don't you see
She had a wild dream
About knitting
something without a seam
When the contest winner was she!!
Don't hate me but my grass is green. LOL The only time the grass is brown here is during the summer and it is over 100 for months.
