Peculiar Ambitions at Battleground Outdoor Market~

Just wanted to let everyone know that we will be selling our goods at the last Battleground Outdoor Market of the season!
~THIS Saturday, Sept.15th from 9 am until about 2 pm~

Eve will be selling her beautiful vegetables and Reenie is bringing yarns and knit items to sell.
Lotsa handspun yarns, yummy merino yarns, Elf Hat Kits, knitting, spinning, and scrapbook themed pins and other fun handmade items!

~Battleground Farmer's market is from 9-3 pm~ and is located in the Battleground Village Square, next to the library.

This is a great place to get your gesso. There is also a good description of what gesso IS and why artist's use it.
Matte gel medium-- is what Jackie and I use as an adhesive and a clear coat. This works great if you are going to be painting over your collaged images.

Free Range Supply List~

I wanted to talk just a bit about tomorrow's Free Range Journal class....
I have been getting requests for a material list, which I will type out in a minute...

The class will be a tutorial, but very non-linear. Which in reenie speak means...
There is a process to building the book, one that will take more than a one hour class.
It is built in layers over time, and roamed through freely (hence the name- har har).
Very open-ended, NO RULES, no templates, therapeutic and freeing!
Free Range-- get it?
Like girl-friend therapy in book form.

I recommend watching us misbehave, and prepare to have some fun!
(Us being Liz, Jackie and myself.)
It will all make sense. I promise.
The technical tutorially stuff (such as binding the book) will be addressed tomorrow night, then explained later on in more detail here in the blog.

Material I used for my Free Range Journal~
The point is to use what you already have! None of us need MORE stuff
~ Manilla folders (do not have to be NEW, old, ugly and written on are the best!)
~ Gesso
~ Acrylic paints
~ Water color paints
~ Paint materials (brushes, water, etc.)
~ Collage papers... suggestions...
    - lists and notes from your daily life
    -junk mail that you find pretty
    - scraps from your scrapbook projects
    -mementos, copies or photos that did not make the cut in your albums
    -menus, maps, receipts, shipping labels...
    -book pages, magazine clippings....
    -I could go on and on, the ideas are endless really.
~ Adhesive- your favorite brand or type. I use a tombo tape or acrylic gel medium.
~ Decorative tapes
~ markers, ink and ink pen, pencils, etc.

SO...
Fix yourself your favorite beverage and prepare to have some fun!

Blog Slacker~

I know..... I have been a blog slacker.
Been busy being mom and hippie housewife. Trying to slow down a bit and absorb some summer energy.  Gardening, canning, puttering in circles around the house and sending a few car loads of stuff we have outgrown to Goodwill.

Today my Ruth is taking me out for a relaxing lunch, and after I will take some more shots of what I have been up to....

100th Monkey Show~

The show was a blast...

Not a huge turnout but not a total bust either. It's always really good for me to do shows, even if they are not so profitable. It really motivates me to get organized and step things up a bit. Plus exposure never hurts.

Here are shots taken by my photographer, Eve.

The girls were getting squirrelly by the end of the show, so Paul modeled some hats to entertain them. I am sure he will be thrilled to have them in the blog. teehee

Random Chaos Hat!

After only 3 froggings (rip outs)! argh.

The yarn finally decided to become a ribbed personality hat.

The coils demanded accentuation so I made the coiled stitches really (really) loose

and then pulled them to the front.

First few attempts were to make it a garter stitch edge, then just a stockinette stitch, similar to the Hippie Skull Hugger Hat, but the coils looked deflated and frustrated, so I kept trying.

I think the ribs help the colors changes to pop a bit more and the coils just glow, well, they glow because they are acid green, but you know what I mean.

I love it.

It is ob-nox-ious. This yarn was spun purely for the color combo.

Well there is sort of a picture Here.

The yarn was originally called "Monster Mash" and was in a trunk show that was sent to some yarn shops around Halloween. BUT the colors are great for any time of the year and just make me so very happy.

"Random Chaos" is going with me to the Twilight Sale. (link) on Dec. 5th.

If it comes home with me I will put it in the Handmade Magic Gallery to sell.

ArtFiberFest 09- Vendor Marketplace~

Come to the Artists’ Marketplace on Friday night, providing a rare opportunity to buy original artwork from many of the best fiber artists around the country.

You will find quirky supplies to use in your own artwork, kits, fabulous handmade yarn, buttons, fabrics, jewelry, dolls, purses, wall art, hooked rug pieces, and lots more.

This event is open to the public, so if you live close to Reed, but can't make it for the workshops, definitely plan on dropping in for the sale.

What the What?

Phew!

Feels like I have been out of it for a while. Fought some odd detox/ blood sugar/ hormonal thing for over a week, then had to prep a booth for First Friday (see previous post).

Friday was a blast, but sales-wise was not. The street was supposed to be closed, but the city would not approve it. So... as you can see in my pics, the cars were whizzing by the entire time and was quite un-nerving. sigh. Not sure if I will do the rest of the summer. I have a full plate with ArtFiberFest and my Sock Summit booth coming up.

Right now? I have orders galore to fill (yay orders-- keep 'em coming!) and need.to.catch.up.

First Friday in Vancouver~

This is what I have spent the past few days doing....
Preparing for First Friday!
I just found out about it last week so I have not had a huge amount of time to prepare, but I am taking what I can fit into my booth space. If you live nearby, come and see me? I would love to put a face with some our your names and computer identities... (grin)
I will be set up in front of Stitchcraft, LLC, my local yarn shop at 2110 Main St.
