Alton and His Friends~ Video by Eve

Our yard rabbit, Alton Brown, loves his chickens.
When we let the hens out to run and play,
he gets very excited and runs in circles around them.

Eve compiled this cute and hilarious short video of him and his friends.

The Hanlin's Flying Fish~

Eve shot this video of the trout jumping in our pond...
They jump and eat the baby dragon flies and other bugs that hover over the water.

Free Range Supply List~

The Free Range Art Journal
Paperclipping Live~! (click for link to the show)
The show will be filmed here in the Material Whirled studio!

I wanted to talk just a bit about tomorrow's Free Range Journal class....
I have been getting requests for a material list, which I will type out in a minute...

The class will be a tutorial, but very non-linear. Which in reenie speak means...
There is a process to building the book, one that will take more than a one hour class.
It is built in layers over time, and roamed through freely (hence the name- har har).
Very open-ended, NO RULES, no templates, therapeutic and freeing!
Free Range-- get it?
Like girl-friend therapy in book form.

I recommend watching us misbehave, and prepare to have some fun!
(Us being Liz, Jackie and myself.)
It will all make sense. I promise.
The technical tutorially stuff (such as binding the book) will be addressed tomorrow night, then explained later on in more detail here in the blog.

Material I used for my Free Range Journal~
The point is to use what you already have! None of us need MORE stuff
~ Manilla folders (do not have to be NEW, old, ugly and written on are the best!)
~ Gesso
~ Acrylic paints
~ Water color paints
~ Paint materials (brushes, water, etc.)
~ Collage papers... suggestions...
    - lists and notes from your daily life
-junk mail that you find pretty
    - scraps from your scrapbook projects
-mementos, copies or photos that did not make the cut in your albums
    -menus, maps, receipts, shipping labels...
    -book pages, magazine clippings....
-I could go on and on, the ideas are endless really.
~ Adhesive- your favorite brand or type. I use a tombo tape or acrylic gel medium.
~ Decorative tapes
~ markers, ink and ink pen, pencils, etc.

SO...
Fix yourself your favorite beverage and prepare to have some fun!
Join the LIVE CHAT ... ask questions or share links and resources... heckle us!
I will be posting a show notes this time! Going to attempt to collect links and resources that are shared in the class chat and make a list here.
xo
SEE YOU THERE!

You mean I will be on camera?! Paperclipping.com Live Promo

The chance to take part in this wonderful opportunity came up at the last minute,
which is why I have not mentioned it until now!
Join us tomorrow, Tues. June 29th 6:30 pm pst.

This promo was taped after too many cookies and a few hours of us being hyper and silly in Liz's studio.
You can definitely tell we are squirrelly AND that this is complete improv. No plan or script.
We were just messing around to test the camera, then decided that
we amuse ourselves and would use it to promote tomorrow night.

Liz and I will be discussing art journals, scrapping, where the two connect and who knows what else really, we tend to get somewhat out of hand when we are together. Imagine that.

and blerg, will I EVER get used to seeing myself on video?

OH-- you can chat with us LIVE via ustream (simply create an account-- it's free!) or via twitter, using the #pclive hash tag.

Just type us a question or a message on your twitter and then type #pclive. We will be filtering out those hash-tags so we can read your comments and questions as they arrive!

And if you miss us live, you can view us in the archives, which I will link here once I have it.

Off to make a bit of an outline!

Stella the Puppy~

I am fer-sure a crazy cat lady.
Love dogs but will always be about the kitties.
That said, I am so enjoying our new puppy.
Not sure where this fits into the whole cat lady thing, but LOVE this dog.

Introducing....
Stella.

The past two days her ears started to stand up. First one then the other. Which looks funny since her head has not grown to fit them yet, so they cross over. (her right ear is blue from the tattoo she received before we got her).
Here she is with the big bad Wheat Thin Box.

I promise to not fill my blog with too much gag- sickening puppy stuff.

Clayboard Video~

It's UP! The video of Jackie and myself playing with clayboard and experimenting with the tools she gave me for my b-day.
(See previous post with more pics)

You can see me in my fiber/painting studio, see my wall of fiber (I know-- it's an illness, a sick amount of fiber) and see Ezmaralda the studio cat in her basket. It is strategically placed so the heat vent on the ceiling blows directly on her(the diva).

Oh-- and go visit Jackies and Liz's site-- IllustrationStories.com. It is very inspiring and FUN!

The girls and I are leaving now for yarn shop crawl (tour?) in Portland with my friend Ruth and her sprite Zoe (who is 4). I will take pics and share my day with you!
